Winter in the Prinzbach valley

Winter in the Black Forest

Deep in the woods – and right between the finest markets in the region. Chrysanthema, Gengenbach, Vogtsbauernhof, Strasbourg, Riquewihr and Kaysersberg are all within the hour.

There are two ways to spend Advent here. One begins on the terrace in the morning, looking into a valley that is often full of mist at this time of year, and ends by the fire. The other leads out: to Gengenbach, where the town hall becomes the largest Advent calendar in the world, to Strasbourg and one of the oldest Christmas markets in Europe, into Alsace to Riquewihr and Kaysersberg.

The good part is that you do not have to choose. From Prinzbach everything is within the hour. Gengenbach is twelve minutes away. And when you come back in the evening, dinner is waiting.

And if you would like to stay

A Christmas market is quickly done. A winter weekend in the Black Forest is not.

Between two markets there is a Baden breakfast, a walk up to the ruins of Geroldseck castle, an afternoon with nothing planned. Our rooms look into the valley, some towards the deer enclosure. And the restaurant is the reason many guests find their way to us in the first place.
